KL Alta Moda Belts Preservation of Kelantan Silversmiths on a High Note

May 16, 2018

The KL Alta Moda Musical Soiree at Istana Budaya (Malaysia's National Theatre) on Monday saw fashion producer and publicist Dodi Mohammad and Yayasan Hasanah join forces in efforts to preserve the dying art of silversmiths from Kelantan state.

This initiative was culminated when Puan Zainariah of Yayasan Hasanah clinched the opportunity to collaborate with Mohammad, who designed and produced five new shoes embellished with the artisanal Kelantan silverware, which was then showcased at the event.

Mohammad, being a keen opera singer himself, belted out two of his upcoming singles, namely Adagio and Nella Fantasia while models paraded the stage with his shoe designs.

Besides Mohammad, children from the Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak Tuanku Bainun also graced the stage to conduct a Gamelan music performance; Veteran performers like Sahara Yaacob and Khadijah Ibrahim also took to the stage to perform a couple of numbers.

In addition to the showcase of local Kelantan silverware, the Musical Soiree also tossed on a touch of Italian style where Anna Atelier, the brainchild of Datin Anna Datuk Azman made its debut. Anna Atelier sources and imports artisanal Italian handcrafted handbags, shoes, and accesories with a limited distribution quantity, making these goods accessible in Kuala Lumpur.

The event was also supported by the likes of Dato' Jimmy Choo and IACT College.
