About

Hey! You must've been intrigued enough to even bother clicking that 'About' button up there. Let me introduce myself a little...

Being JONYKT
I began my dabble in photography since making my debut in the blogging scene back in 2009, when owning a camera was an unspoken rule as a blogger. After years of experimenting with vast sorts of photography, my young self discovered a particular interest for live music, nightlife, and festival photography - which has undoubtedly been the best genre I've exposed myself to.

"The energy and experience shared by people around the world coming together to celebrate a shared passion has continuously fuelled my motivation and desire to explore even more within this genre since my early days, and has given me the opportunity to leave an impression on the scene, both in Malaysia and United Kingdom."

Eventually, the brand SHOT BY YKT came about in 2014, when I identified the need to brand myself as a professional photographer specialising in the live music and nightlife scene, and establish a platform to showcase some of the work I'm most proud of.

Fast forward to present day, my photography clientele covers a wide spectrum, from corporate and independent brands, to local and international acts of all genres. However, I've taken up the role as a full-time lecturer in creative communications since mid 2017 and have been travelling frequently since my return from the UK (hence the main reason for the relaunch of my blog!); so this will hopefully be the place I write about anything I come across worthy on a personal and professional basis.

Nevertheless, I still set precious time aside for commissioned photography whenever possible. If you're interested in engaging my services - be it festival touring, photography, copywriting, advertorials, or features, do drop by the 'Contact Me' page!

Alas, this is me; I am YKT. x
